MONTHLY NEWS

The good points for Saturday were the weather was good, no rain, the journey was uneventful and especially on the way back, quick. The course design and layout is good and the new operators are trying to improve things. Our opinion, they need to start with the greens and bunkers. The greens had been cored and there was no warning. I understand that greens need to be cored once or twice a year but they should warn us before we book or go out. The bunkers were rock hard with no sand, which is fine if you don't go in them, BUT!!

Personally I think Royal Island is one of the harder courses we play, although the vHandicap app has it as easier than many others. In general our scoring was pretty poor but I am going to be generous and say it was the conditions, In second with 29 points was Stuart Porter, but way out in front was Jared Chambers with 34 points, Well Played!

Next month, 15 August, we are playing, Jeongsen/Emerald, teeing off at 12. The cost is 3,000,000 vnd which includes golf, caddy and cart but no lunch. The coach will leave Phattys at 10.15 am. Please let me know ASAP if you are playing and if you are coming on the coach.

I would like to get some idea of your intentions of whether you will play either Saturday or Sunday, or both, for the weekend with the DOGS, the 31 October and 1 November. I have a few confirmed already. We are aiming at a SLAGS v DOGS match on the Saturday with a more friendly round on the Sunday. The DOGS allow their wives, girlfriends and mistresses, not sure if all at the same time, to play and therefore if any of you want to bring your other half or one of them along, then it will be allowed this once! I am thinking of the Lake course for Saturday and maybe Jeongsen/Emerald on the Sunday, unless anyone would like to make another suggestion, both will be noon tee offs.
